This describes exactly what AutoCap does with your data. If something here doesn't match what you observe, that's a bug — tell us.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address and name, via Supabase authentication (email/password or Google sign-in).
  • Your projects — video reference, transcript and style choices — stored against your account so you can come back to them.
  • Usage counters: transcription minutes used, and your current plan. We need these to enforce plan limits.
  • Approximate location: when you transcribe, our host tells us the country, state and city your request came from. We keep only the latest reading against your account — never a history, never coordinates, and never your IP address itself. It tells us which regions to build for.
  • Anonymous usage analytics: which pages are visited, via Google Analytics. This is aggregate traffic data — it is not linked to your account.
  • We do not sell data.

Your video and audio

  • To generate captions, the audio from your video is sent to our speech-to-text providers, ElevenLabs and Sarvam AI, which process it to return a transcript with word timings. Sarvam AI also turns transcripts into romanised text and translates speech into English when you choose those options.
  • Your video file is not uploaded to our servers. It is kept in your own browser's storage on the device you uploaded it from, so a saved project can be reopened and exported without picking the file again.
  • Because of that, opening a project on a different device will ask you to re-attach the video. Nothing was lost — the file simply never left the first device.
  • Caption rendering and export happen entirely in your browser.
  • You can delete a project at any time, which also removes the video held in your browser.
  • We do not train models on your content, and we never publish or share it.

Who we share data with

  • Supabase — authentication, database and file storage.
  • ElevenLabs — speech-to-text processing of your audio.
  • Sarvam AI — speech-to-text, romanisation and translation of your audio and transcripts.
  • Razorpay — payment processing. We never see or store your card details.
  • Amazon Web Services — sends account emails, plan reminders and newsletters.
  • Vercel — hosts the site and handles the requests your browser makes to it.
  • Google Analytics — anonymous page-view statistics.
  • Google AdSense — advertising on our public pages, described under Advertising below. It is never given your videos, transcripts or account details.
  • That is the complete list. If we add a processor, this page changes first.

Advertising

  • Our public pages — such as the home page, caption templates, pricing and FAQ — may show ads served by Google AdSense. The editor, your projects and your account pages do not.
  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
  • If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change that choice at any time.

Cookies

  • We set cookies to keep you signed in. Those are required for the product to work.
  • Google Analytics sets its own cookies to count returning visitors. These measure traffic only.
  • On pages that show ads, Google and its partners set advertising cookies to show and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and detect invalid traffic. You can clear or block them in your browser settings, or use the opt-outs under Advertising.

Your rights

  • You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • You can request deletion of your account and everything associated with it.
  • Email support@autocap.in and we will respond within 7 business days.
  • These rights apply under India's DPDP Act and, for EU visitors, the GDPR.
